Overview
Every Pro and Team account can invite members. A member joins your account and can see your connections, backups, schedules, and servers — depending on the permissions you assign. They switch into your account context from their own dashboard without needing a separate login.
Free and Solo plans do not support team members. Upgrade to Pro to invite up to 5 members, or Team for unlimited.
Inviting a member
- Go to Settings → Members in your dashboard.
- Enter the collaborator’s email address.
- Select the permissions you want to grant.
- Click Send invitation.
The invitee receives an email with a link to /invite/<token>. If they don’t have a Capsule account yet, they can create one and then accept the invitation.
Permissions
You can assign any combination of these flags per member:
| Permission | What it allows |
|---|
view_backups | See the backup list and download backups |
trigger_backups | Trigger manual backups and restores |
manage_connections | Add and delete database connections |
manage_schedules | Create and delete backup schedules |
invite_members | Invite additional members on your behalf |
Owners always have full access. You can edit a member’s permissions at any time from the Members section in Settings.
Switching account context
Once a member accepts an invitation, they see a Switch account section in the sidebar dropdown. Clicking another account name switches their dashboard view to that account’s data.
While viewing another account, a blue banner appears at the top of the dashboard:
Viewing [Owner Name]'s account [Switch to My Account ×]
Clicking Switch to My Account returns them to their own context immediately.
Plan limits
| Plan | Members allowed |
|---|
| Free | 0 |
| Solo | 0 |
| Pro | Up to 5 |
| Team | Unlimited |
Leaving an account
Members can leave an account they’ve joined by going to Settings → Members and clicking Leave account. The owner can also remove any member from the same page.
Once removed, access is revoked on the next request — no session invalidation needed on the member’s side.
